Apple Vision Pro Launched in USA

Apple’s mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, went on sale today, i.e., February 2, 2024. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, calls it the first spatial computer.

Cook says the Vision Pro is “tomorrow’s technology today.” “It’s packed with, we have 5,000 patents on the product already. So we really leaned into it. And I’m hoping some people will pay for it by month, some people will just buy it.”

The company has also announced that over 600 additional apps and games, along with the 1 million Vision Pro compatible apps for iOS, are available for their wearable headset.

These 600+ apps and games are specifically designed for Vision Pro and have native support for VisionOS, which means these apps will take full advantage of Vision Pro’s infinite canvas, where apps can scale beyond the boundaries of a fixed display.

Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, said, “With more than 600 new spatial experiences to explore in the all-new App Store, alongside more than 1 million compatible apps across iOS and iPadOS, users can discover a wide array of apps that expand the boundaries of what’s possible. These incredible apps will change how we experience entertainment, music, and games; spark our imaginations with new ways to learn and explore; unlock productivity like never before; and so much more. Developers are already capturing the promise of spatial computing, and we can’t wait to see what they create next.”

Sports Apps Available on Apple Vision Pro

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy apps like PGA TOUR Vision, RedBull TV, ESPN, CBS, Paramount+, NBC, NBC Sports, Peacock, FOX Sports, UFC, and more. Soccer fans can subscribe to the MLS Season Pass directly through the Apple TV app.

Games Available on Apple Vision Pro

Popular games like NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Sonic Dream Team, and TMNT Splintered Fate are compatible with the Vision Pro. But game titles like WHAT THE GOLF?, Cut the Rope 3, Wylde Flowers, Synth Riders, Twirl LEGO Bricks, Super Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride 2, Game Room, and many more will be “spatial games,” which are specifically built for Vision Pro and can be played in augmented reality.

Work and Productivity Apps Available on Apple Vision Pro

Work and productivity apps like Keynote, Mail, Notes, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Notion, Numerics, Todolist, OmniFocus, Box, JigSpace, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Slack are also specifically redesigned for Apple Vision Pro.

Entertainment and Streaming Apps Available on Apple Vision Pro

Apps like Apple TV, Disney+, Max, Amazon Prime Video, Discovery+, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Crunchyroll, Mubi, and IMAX will take care of your fun and entertainment while using Apple Vision Pro.

Apps Unavailable on Apple Vision Pro

A lot of apps and games can be accessed using the Apple Vision Pro; some are specifically designed for the headset, while others are compatible with the headset. However, YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix didn’t create a standalone app for the Apple Vision Pro and didn’t even allow their iPad app to support Apple’s mixed reality headset. But users can access YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix on the mixed reality headset by using the Safari browser. YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix are the most popular audio and video streaming platforms, so this can negatively impact the sales of Apple Vision Pro.

The Apple Vision Pro is available from February 2nd in all US Apple Store locations and US Apple Store online. It comes at a price point of $3,499. Apple is also providing a 25-minute in-store Apple Vision Pro demo along with a sophisticated sales pitch to all potential buyers.
