Elon Musk’s xAI launched Grok last year in November to compete with chatbots from big tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Elon Musk’s xAI is soon launching the next version of their chatbot, Grok 1.5, which performs really well as compared to the previous version. The news comes just after Elon Musk recently said that all the premium subscribers of X will be able to access Grok within the coming week.

Capabilities of Grok 1.5

The Grok 1.5 performs way better than the Grok 1. The new version has impressive reasoning and problem-solving capabilities. It also performs really well in coding and math. It scores high on various benchmarks, including MATH (50.6%), GSM8K (90%), and HumanEval (74.1%).

The Grok AI has a massive 120,000-token context window, which will help the chatbot process larger documents and remember recent conversations.

According to rumors, Grok 1.5 will also include an “Analysis” button, which will help generate summaries of entire threads and replies on X. This was previously hinted at by Elon Musk during a live-space appearance at X.

Availability of Grok 1.5

Grok 1.5 will be available to early testers and previous Grok users on the social media platform X in the coming days. Recently, xAI will receive feedback from the early users and will gradually roll out the version to a wider audience with new features.

Conclusion

The Grok 1.5 shows really impressive benchmark scores. Grok differs from other chatbots as it can answer questions related to conspiracies or controversial political ideas. Recently, Elon Musk also talked about a potential partnership with Midjourney for AI image generation with Grok during a live Spaces appearance at X. If that also works well, the new chatbot will give tough competition to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
