Mustafa Suleyman has now joined as CEO of Microsoft AI. He will lead all the consumer AI products and research for the tech giant. Suleyman is a well-known AI entrepreneur who previously co-founded the AI firm DeepMind, which was acquired by Google in 2014 and is now known as Google DeepMind. He is also the co-founder of Inflection AI.
Mustafa Suleyman announced his new position at Microsoft on the social media platform X. “I’m excited to announce that today I’m joining Microsoft as CEO of Microsoft AI. I’ll be leading all consumer AI products and research, including Copilot, Bing, and Edge. My friend and longtime collaborator Karén Simonyan will be Chief Scientist, and several of our amazing teammates have chosen to join us.”
Satya Nadella congratulated Mustafa Suleyman and replied to him on X, “Thrilled to have you lead Microsoft AI as we build consumer AI, like Copilot, that is loved by and benefits people around the world.”

What About Inflection AI?
Mustafa Suleyman is the cofounder of Inflection AI, an AI company known for developing machine learning and GenAI hardware and apps. The company is valued at $4 billion and has raised $1.5 billion so far.
Along with Mustafa, another cofounder of Inflection AI, Karén Simoyan has also joined Microsoft as the Chief Scientist of the consumer AI group. Both of them will directly report to Satya Nadella.
Mustafa was the CEO of the startup before joining Microsoft, but now he has left that position, and the startup will be led by someone else.
Mustafa mentioned in a post on X that Inflection AI will be reaching more people by making its API available to more businesses and developers all over the world.
