Apple has officially launched new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air laptops powered by the M3 chipset today. With the release of Apple’s new MacBook Air laptops, the company has also discontinued the 13″ MacBook Air that came with the M1 chip. The M3 chip, which comes with an 8-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, and support for up to 24GB of memory, gives a big boost to the performance of the new MacBook Air laptops and makes them much more powerful than the M1 chip MacBook Air laptops.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, said, “MacBook Air is our most popular and loved Mac, with more customers choosing it over any other laptop. And today it gets even better with the M3 chip and new capabilities.”
Best Laptop for AI
The M3 chip consists of a fast and efficient 16-core neural engine with accelerators present in the CPU and GPU. This helps boost machine learning on the new MacBook Air laptops. Apple claims them to be the world’s best consumer laptop for AI.
The MacBooks come with AI features in the camera, real-time speech-to-text, translation, text predictions, visual understanding, accessibility features, and much more.
With third-party apps, users can also leverage the power of AI. They can use AI Math Assistance in Goodnotes 6 to check their homework, use Pixelmator Pro to enhance photos, and remove background noise using CapCut.
Apple’s new MacBook Air laptops with the M3 chip can run optimized AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and diffusion models.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, recently said that they are investing significantly in generative AI, and Apple’s new generative AI features will be unveiled later this year. With the AI capabilities of new MacBook Air laptops powered by the M3 chip, it is a possibility that Apple might introduce their own large-language models by the end of this year.
Specs of Apple’s New MacBook Air Laptops with the M3 Chipset
Both of Apple’s new MacBook Air laptops powered by the M3 chipset come with 18 hours of battery life and include MagSafe charging. They support two external displays when the laptops are closed, come with a liquid retina display with up to 500 nits of brightness, and have WiFi 6E, which is 2X faster than previous generation laptops. They also come with a 1080P facetime camera.
The new MacBook Air Laptops consist of two thunderbolt ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The new laptops with the M3 chipset include a magic keyboard and come in 4 different color options: Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Space Gray. Both 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air laptops provide a great sound experience with support for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.
Users get the option to choose from a 30W USB-C power adapter, a 35W dual USB-C port power adapter, or a 70W USB-C power adapter while purchasing the MacBook Air laptops.
