Meta has just rolled out some of Instagram’s new features in Instagram’s new update. After adding the edit option in Messenger a few months ago, Meta has added an edit option in Instagram that allows users to edit DMs. Users can now edit a message within 15 minutes after sending it.

Other social media platforms, such as Telegram and WhatsApp, already have the edit message feature, but now you will also be able to use it on Instagram. So there’s no need to unsend a message after making a typo.

How to use the Edit Feature

  • To use the edit feature, simply press and hold the sent message that you want to edit.
  • Click on edit and update the sent message. If the message was sent more than 15 minutes ago, you won’t be able to see this edit option.
  • After you are done with the editing, tap the send button to send your message.

Other Information Related to the Edit Feature

  • The message you edit will appear as edited in the chat conversation, so if you don’t want that, the only option is to unsend the message and send a new message.
  • If the other person hasn’t read the message from the notification, the new message will replace the unread notification.
  • A sent message can only be edited a maximum of five times.

Turn Read Receipts On/Off Feature

The new update allows you to toggle Read Receipts on or off for all chats or specific chats. If you have read receipts turned off, other people won’t be able to tell if you have read a message sent by them.

To toggle it on or off, users need to go to settings, messages and story replies, read receipts, and then turn it on or off.

More of Instagram’s New Features

Other Instagram’s new features that come with the new update include allowing users to add stickers to favorites. Favorite Stickers show on top whenever a user wants to send stickers to someone.

Users can now reply to a message with stickers, GIFs, videos, photos, and voice messages.

Instagram is also coming with a new feature that will soon allow users to pin any three chats (including group or personal) at the top of their DM feed. This will make sure you don’t miss the important messages.
