Google released the Gemini app earlier this month for Android users. Users had the option to use the AI-powered Gemini assistant instead of the Google assistant. The Gemini assistant was able to do a lot of new things that the Google Assistant wasn’t able to do, such as generating AI images, document summaries, text formatting, and answering questions. But there were some limitations for Gemini, as it wasn’t able to access the Google calendar and create events. But now Gemini can access the Google calendar and create events.
What you can do with Gemini after the Update
According to 9to5Google, Gemini can now access Google calendar events and create new events.
So you can now give instructions like “schedule a meeting for 4:00 p.m. today,” “what’s on my calendar today?” and “add a reminder for tomorrow morning,” and Gemini will access Google Calendar and let you dictate the event details or type them manually.
Gemini still invokes Google Assistant to complete your event requests and tasks related to Google Calendar.
Currently Available in US
Google Calendar support for Gemini is currently available to users in the US, but it might roll out soon for the rest of the users.
The AI-powered Gemini assistant, after getting support for Google Calendar, becomes much more powerful. Although it still uses Google Assistant to complete some tasks, it might be able to do these tasks on its own in the future.
