Elon Musk’s company, Neuralink, develops brain chips that are implanted in the skull of a human, which help patients interact with a computer with only their thoughts.
This really helps patients with disabilities interact with a computer. The company was valued at $5 billion last year, and Musk believes the chip can be used to treat various conditions like obesity, depression, and more in the upcoming future.
Now Neuralink has shared a video showing a patient playing chess on a computer just by thinking. Elon Musk shared the video by Neuralink and posted on X, “Livestream of @Neuralink demonstrating “Telepathy” – controlling a computer and playing video games just by thinking “

New Video Shared by Neuralink shows a Patient playing Chess
The video shared by Neuralink shows a paralyzed patient interacting with a computer simply by thinking. He was able to control the cursor of the mouse and play chess and the Civilization 6 game by just using his thoughts. He was also able to pause the music playing in the background.
The name of the patient is Noland Arbaugh. He is 29 years old, and he was paralyzed below the shoulders eight years ago when he met a bad driving accident. Arbaugh’s Neuralink chip implant operation was done in January this year. He said the operation went super easy.
Talking about the Civilization VI game, he said, “I had given up on playing that game,” but with the help of the chip, he was able to play the game for about 8 hours straight.
Arbaugh also said that the technology is currently not perfect, as they ran into some issues and there is still a lot of work to be done, but it has completely changed his life.
Conclusion
The video shared by Neuralink was really impressive and shows the power of this new technology. Although it is not perfect and still needs a lot of work, it is really impressive in its early stages. This technology will be really useful for people who lost all hopes of interacting with a computer after an accident or a disease.
