Apple's Upcoming iOS 18 Update

Every tech company is trying to integrate AI technology and features into their devices. The biggest smartphone brand, Apple, is falling short in the AI race as compared to other tech giants. But according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is going to launch a major iOS 18 update in June 2024 during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The new update is going to be one of the biggest updates in the history of Apple. The iOS 18 update is expected to bring a lot of AI features that will change how Apple’s users interact with their iPhones.

Expected Features With Apple’s iOS 18 Update

According to Gurman’s report, we will be seeing a lot of new features with the iOS 18 update. Some of these features include:

AI-Powered Siri

Apple is expected to launch a better version of Siri with the iOS 18 update. A lot of generative AI features will be incorporated into Siri.

AI features in the Messages App

Apple’s Message app is expected to have AI features that will automatically answer questions and complete sentences.

AI in the Apple Music App

The Apple Music app will be integrated with AI, including a feature that will automatically generate playlists.

AI in Productivity Apps

Productivity apps like Keynotes and Pages will also get AI features like automatically generating slide decks for users.

AI in Development Tools

Apple is expected to integrate generative AI into development tools like XCode to make application development easier for developers.

Rich Communication Services (RCS)

Apple announced in November 2023 that they are going to adopt RCS support in 2024. For so long, all Apple users wanted this feature that allows seamless and easy sharing of multimedia files, audio messages, and more between iPhones and Android smartphones. But even after support for the RCS protocol, messages coming from Android smartphones will continue to display as green bubbles on iPhones.

Conclusion

The iOS 18 update may be the biggest revolution for iPhones. Samsung’s Galaxy series has already revealed all their new features, and currently no other smartphone brand is giving tough competition to Samsung. So it will be interesting to see how Apple’s iOS 18 competes with Samsung. The iOS 18 update is still 4 months away, and we might see many more features being added as we get closer to the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The upcoming update looks very interesting; however, nothing has been officially announced by Apple, but if the reports are true, this is going to be a game changer in the smartphone industry.
